I had the wonderful experience of photographing Lauren and Jos’s wedding a few years ago in Mystic. When they called about expecting a baby, I was very excited. So, welcome Mr. Luke David. He was so much fun to photograph. We ran over our typical allotted studio time because he was just so sweet and easy!!! Lauren got him good and “milk drunk” and once he drifted off to sleep by daddy’s rocking, he was out COLD!!!! And, we certainly had fun with him! Thanks Lauren and Jos for having me be a part of your experience as new parents. You have a beautiful new family. And, I can’t wait to watch Mr. Luke grow up.

Karen and Tyler and I had a fun day on the farm here in South Glastonbury. The wind was whippin’, the clouds were shifting from blue to yellowish gray, dust was blowing….. I wanted to run for cover at times and I had to resist yelling for “Auntie Em!” Despite the weather challenges (which did mean very COOL clouds!) we did make some fun images together. And, for two people who don’t really LOVE to be photographed, you guys were amazing! I did some fun editing for you guys, too – there were some fun effects that I think fit well with the farm theme. I also love the shots of you two at Glastonbury’s own (infamous) Diamond! That is, of course, where this love story began!!!! Can’t wait for your wedding!

I was contacted by Juliana’s dad (bizarre that my last post had a story about a Juliana and her dad – ok, weird….. since I don’t know many Julianas!) Anyway, Juliana’s parents wanted to take some photographs to remember their daughter’s First Communion. However, they wanted to avoid adding a photo shoot to their family plans the day of the celebration. So, we made arrangements to meet at the church at a later date.
When I met Juliana, I knew we were going to have fun. This was no ordinary first communion photo session…. Of course, we did some more traditional photography….. don’t you just love how she crosses her thumbs when she prays!
and this…. thumbs still crossed.
But it was at this very moment that I knew we were going to have a ton of fun together…. I bet her parents have seen THIS face!!!!!
So, a few more in the church…
and then I promised her that we would do something fun outside…..
And these are the photos that I think best display her personality and energy. This little girl is a competitive gymnast (on a national level) and just an overall silly little girl. I brought out some studio lighting and let Juliana dance, jump and pose. And, though not traditional, I think these photos will be the ones that will help her parents remember what a joy she was (and surely will continue to be) around the time of her First Communion. Enjoy Mom and Dad!
I loved all of her fun “action” shots – but this candid of her playing in the grass ended up being one of my favorites.

It isn’t every day that I get to post a wedding the day after it happens. However, Juliana’s dad arranged for a special surprise for his beautiful daughter – a slideshow of their wedding images to be able to share with their family at today’s brunch. Juliana, your parents love you! Your dad and your mom did such a great job helping to coordinate your wedding while you and Chris finished up at the Air Force Academy. I know you have some special family visiting – so please enjoy the day with them. And, as you and Chris head off to serve our country only days after your wedding, it is my pleasure to share these images with you on July 4th.
So, here is that slideshow – along with some of my favorite images from your wedding day.
How pretty is Juliana?!?!? :) We took some getting ready shots in the hotel – then moved outside for some family shots and one of my favorites – the dynamically lit one of Juliana in front of the barn in the back of the Windsor Marriott.
And then the handsome groom, Chris…..
I think I should hire Juliana’s mom! She had her camera with her everywhere! This photo made me chuckle….. I imagine this will be me when my daughters get married one day….. a very LOOOOONG time from now!!!
We went to Juliana’s parents house in Windsor for photos. Though the really strong sunlight prevented us from utilizing every part of their beautiful yard, we wanted to capture some shots by the fountain.
Then, thanks for trusting me when I suggested going to the train tracks for some photos…. I really love how they came out.
And I have to add another shot of Juliana – I think this will be one of Chris’ favorites!
Then off to a fantastic reception with great music and lighting from Tony from After Hours.
And, I loved this photo of Chris and his guys smoking cigars.
